Stand a chance to win a share of up to R5 Million!
- Roots Butchery will host a mobile carnival-style competition (“Competition”) at selected stores nationwide. The exact location of each event will be confirmed no less than one week prior to the relevant event date. Each event will run for one day only. Customers who meet the entry requirements may participate in a series of mini-games. Each event concludes with a Cash Blower Challenge, where selected contestants may win a portion of a national R5 million prize pool, marketed as “Win a Share of up to R5 Million.”
- Participation in the Competition is linked to in-store purchases. Customers who spend R100 or more at any Roots store on the day of the event are eligible to participate in all mini-games. Winners of each mini-game must submit their proof-of-purchase slips into a designated raffle box. From this pool, ten contestants will be randomly drawn to enter the Cash Blower, with the draw occurring approximately one hour before the Cash Blower session begins. Each R100 purchase constitutes a separate entry and permits re-entry into mini-games. The Competition will run from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026, unless terminated earlier in accordance with section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or as permitted under these Terms and Conditions.
- The Competition is open to South African residents aged 12 years and older. Participants under 18 years must nominate an adult to participate in the Cash Blower on their behalf for legal and payout purposes. Employees, suppliers, and affiliates of Roots Butchery may participate in mini-games but are excluded from the Cash Blower draw and all prizes. Only customers who meet the minimum purchase requirement on the day of the event qualify to participate.
- The mini-games include, but are not limited to: Ball in the Bucket, Ring Toss, Hoop It Up, Buzz Wire, Hoop of Fate, Deal or No Deal (Price Edition), Duck-O-Fun, and Sniper. Each game will have specific rules and objectives, which will be displayed at each station and explained prior to participation. Winners will be determined based on completion, accuracy, or highest score, as applicable. In the event of a tie, Roots Butchery reserves the right to conduct tiebreaker rounds at its sole discretion.
- Participants must win at least three mini-games to qualify for the Cash Blower prize draw. Roots Agents will monitor game wins using marked slips to indicate the number of games won per participant. Only participants who have submitted completed slips to Roots Agents will be eligible for the draw.
- The Cash Blower is a transparent booth containing paper “Roots Credits,” which simulate cash. Contestants will have a fixed period to grab as many credits as possible. Credits are redeemable at a 1:1 value with South African Rand via electronic funds transfer or Roots Store Voucher within seven (7) working days, subject to the submission of valid identification and banking details. No cash will be paid on-site.
- The advertised R5 Million prize pool represents a national aggregate, distributed across all events during the campaign period. There is no guaranteed minimum prize per event. Total winnings will depend on participant performance in the Cash Blower. Prizes are claimable only upon submission of valid identification and banking details. Participants who fail to provide valid documentation will forfeit their winnings.
- Roots Butchery reserves the right to disqualify any participant for any of the following reasons, including but not limited to: cheating, tampering with the games, unsafe conduct, or providing false, misleading, or incomplete personal information. Rules of play will be clearly visible at each game station and explained prior to participation.
- Participation constitutes consent for Roots Butchery to capture photographs, video, or other media of the event for marketing and promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, print, digital, and in-store displays. Participants may object in writing on the day if they do not wish their image or likeness to be used. Personal information submitted will be processed in accordance with legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, and Roots Butchery’s Privacy Policy, available on the Roots Butchery website.
- The Competition is not registered as a national lottery or sweepstakes. No external auditors or independent witnesses will be present at individual events. The promoter, RBG, retains sole discretion regarding interpretation of these Terms and Conditions, dispute resolution, and fulfillment of prizes.
- Prizes will not be awarded to any person to whom the prize may not be legally awarded. Roots Butchery may terminate, postpone, or extend the Competition at its sole discretion or in the event of circumstances beyond its reasonable control. No prize will be awarded where participation criteria or these Terms and Conditions have not been complied with, or if Roots Butchery detects or reasonably suspects irregularities or fraudulent practices.
- These Terms and Conditions are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
